Needle felting is the art of taking loose, fluffy wool and repeatedly poking it with a tiny barbed needle until it agrees to become something adorable. Or majestic. Or at least recognizable. It’s part craft, part stress relief, and part “wow, I made this with my own two hands and a lot of stabbing.”
At Shrimp and Knits, we are very pro needle felting. It’s creative, oddly calming, and deeply satisfying in a way that’s hard to explain until you’ve tried it. You start with wool that looks like it has no plans whatsoever, and end with a Santa, an animal, an ornament, or a tiny fuzzy friend that sparks an unreasonable amount of joy.
We carry beginner-friendly kits that walk you through the process step by step, plus all the supplies you need when you inevitably decide one kit is not enough. Wool, needles, tools, and helpful guidance for when you say, “Is it supposed to look like this?” The answer is usually yes. And if it’s not, we can help.
Needle felting is perfect for kids (with supervision), grownups, holiday crafting, after-school projects, and anyone who needs a creative outlet that doesn’t involve screens or perfection. There’s no pressure, no gauge, and no wrong answers. Just wool, patience, and a little pokey determination.
