Short Rows: Go from boxy to shaped garments
Short rows are a knitter’s secret weapon for adding shape, dimension, and a little bit of magic to your knitting. Short rows are popping up. In this hands-on, 2-hour class, we’ll take the mystery out of working short rows and demonstrate how to use them to create everything from beautifully shaped garments to clever design details.
We’ll explore and practice at least three popular short-row techniques—German short rows, yarn-over short rows, and wrap-and-turn—so you can see how each method works and when you might want to use it. You’ll work along with the instructor, practice each technique, and learn how to confidently knit a pattern that uses short rows.
Come ready to knit, experiment, and discover that turning around doesn’t have to mean getting lost!
Instructor: Robin Allison
Class Date: Saturday, January 30th, 12 - 2 pm
Class fee: $35.
Level: Adventurous beginner and beyond - must know how to cast on, knit, and purl. Everyone can benefit from learning something new about the craft!
For this class: Bring yarn to knit on with needles appropriate for its size. Robin suggests a light colored and smooth worsted-weight yarn, needles and removable stitch markers. While there is no requirement to purchase supplies from the store for this class, we hope that you will support the store if you are able.
