Technique Series - Beyond Knits and Purls ✨🧶
Every knitter deserves a Fairy Godmother. Lucky for you, ours is the real deal.
Caitlin, called our Knitting Fairy Godmother affectionately by some of our regulars, has earned the title through years of mastering the craft and helping knitters discover just how capable they really are. With deep technical knowledge, an eye for detail, and a passion for teaching, she's ready to share the techniques that transform good knitters into confident, accomplished ones.
This fall and winter series is designed for knitters who are ready to expand their skills. Each class focuses on a specific technique, breaking it down into clear, practical steps you can apply to your future projects.
You'll build confidence, refine your skills, and learn the little details that make a big difference!
Topics that will be covered:
- Cast On and Bind Off: Learn which ones to use and when
- Frog It!: how to run a lifeline, tink and rip out knitting with control
- Knitting in the Round
- Stranded Colorwork
- All About Seams
- Chart Reading for colorwork and lace
- Knitting math- all about gauge and calculating yarn/size
Whether you're ready to venture beyond your comfort zone or simply want to knit with greater confidence and precision, this series will give you the skills, knowledge, and encouragement to take your knitting to the next level.
Because great knitting isn't magic—it's mastering the craft, one technique at a time.
One thought: I think "Because great knitting isn't magic—it's mastering the craft, one technique at a time." is a particularly effective closing because it ties the "Fairy Godmother" nickname back to the real message: expertise, not mystique. It preserves the charm of the nickname while reinforcing that the series is about building skill.
Instructor: Caitlin Piette, the Knitting Fairy Godmother
Class Dates: Offered Select Saturdays - starting at 12pm. Sessions are either 1 or 2 hours.
Class fee: $25 for each 1-hour class and $50 for each 2-hour class. Any purchases made for and during the class will receive 10% off!
Classes are suited for all skill levels. Everyone can benefit from learning something new about the craft!
Suggested Yarn: For these classes, choose a yarn that is smooth and light in color for learning. While it doesn't need to be a worsted weight yarn, a yarn that uses a US 7-9 needle is often easiest to learn new techniques and to see stitches most easily.
A minimum of three participants is required for classes to run. Enrollment is reviewed 48 hours before the scheduled start time. Please be sure to provide both an email address and phone number at registration so we can contact you if the class needs to be cancelled.
Please arrive at Low Country Shrimp and Knits 10 minutes before the start of class. All classes will begin promptly at the scheduled time.
Review Low Country Shrimp and Knits' full class policies at the bottom of the Classes and Events page before registering.
