That is so sad! You deserve happiness and fine things. Cast on a new project, the most squishy yarn, fun notions and instruction books, some new skills and fiber friends with a class... Plus, this habit is much better for your teeth than crack.

Beginner Colorwork: Because One Colour is Sometimes Just Being Lazy

You've mastered knitting with one strand. Now it's time to invite a second one to the party.

If stranded colorwork has you convinced you'll end up in a tangled mess of yarn and questionable life choices, don't worry—we're here to prove otherwise.

Using the beautiful Mount Tabor Hat by Woolfolk, you'll learn the ins and outs of beginner-friendly colorwork with a classic Nordic-inspired design that's approachable, addictive, and just fancy enough to earn compliments.

In class we'll cover:

  • Knitting with two colours at the same time (without tying yourself in knots)

  • Keeping your tension even so your hat doesn't pucker like you've bitten into a lemon

  • Catching floats so the inside of your hat stays as tidy as the outside

  • Reading a colorwork chart without your eyes crossing

  • Tips and tricks that make stranded knitting far less mysterious than it looks

The pattern uses just two skeins of Woolfolk Tov, and here's the best part: you'll have enough yarn to knit two hats. One to keep, one to gift... or one to show everyone how much better your second attempt is. We don't judge.

Prerequisites: You should already be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, knitting in the round, and working basic decreases.

Warning: Colorwork is known to cause spontaneous yarn purchases and the irresistible urge to say, "Just one more round."

Instructor:  Caitlin Piette

Class Date:   Sunday, November 1 & 15 1pm-3pm

Class fee: $ 60 for 2, 2-hour in-person sessions and the pattern.  Any purchases made for and during the class will receive 10% off!
