A handmade one you'll create yourself using fluffy wool, a barbed needle, and just enough repetitive stabbing to make your vacation feel surprisingly therapeutic.
In this beginner-friendly needle felting class, you'll transform soft wool into a beautifully weathered Low Country oyster. Inspired by the oysters that line our marshes and docks, you'll learn how to layer natural colors, create realistic texture, and shape an ornament that looks like it spent a few years happily attached to a dock before deciding to become home décor.
No experience is necessary. If you've never needle felted before, we'll guide you every step of the way. If you're looking for a break from the summer heat, an afternoon in the air conditioning sounds a whole lot better than becoming a lightly toasted chicken nugget on the beach.
What you'll learn:
• The basics of needle felting (also known as controlled poking)
• Building a three-dimensional oyster shape
• Layering wool to create realistic coastal textures and weathered color
• Shaping a natural oyster cavity and adding a pearl
• How tiny imperfections make handmade projects look even better

Side effects may include proudly announcing, "I made this!" to complete strangers, suddenly examining every oyster shell you pass for artistic inspiration, and wondering if your Christmas tree could use a little more coastal flair.
No experience is required. Just bring your curiosity, a little patience, and a willingness to repeatedly poke fluffy wool until it magically starts looking like something you'd happily display at home.
This class is relaxed, creative, and just the right amount of chaotic. You'll spend two hours turning fluffy wool into one of the Low Country's most recognizable treasures and wondering why nobody told you repetitive stabbing could be this relaxing.
