This Spring Knit Along features the Marseille Cardigan by Cheryl Mokhtari, a classic, timeless piece that adds instant sophistication to any outfit. With its slightly cropped length and beautifully balanced fit, it pairs effortlessly with regular or high-waisted jeans, a summer dress, or anything that benefits from a little architectural polish.
It’s the cardigan equivalent of strolling the evening streets of France… even if you’re technically headed to Kroger.
Construction Details (Why This Is a Fantastic KAL Project)
The Marseille Cardigan is worked top down, which means you can try it on as you go and adjust the length to suit your style.
Here’s how it unfolds:
• The back is worked flat first, shaping the shoulders with increases.
• Stitches are picked up along the slanted edges to form each shoulder and worked back and forth.
• The yoke is joined and shaped at the neckline.
• Sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is worked flat to your desired length.
• The body is finished with ribbing.
• Sleeves are worked in the round with decreases to taper, then finished with ribbed cuffs.
• Button bands are picked up and worked in ribbing.
• Finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline for a beautifully finished ribbed collar.
Clean lines. Thoughtful structure. All the satisfying finishing details.
