This Summer Knit Along features the Sabai Top by Susanne Muller, a breezy sleeveless top perfect for the heat of the Low Country. With its boat neck, it can be knit with ribbed edges for a more polished, refined look or with rolled edges for a casual outfit.
Wear the Sabai alone with denim shorts or neutral culottes during the day and throw a cardigan over it to elevate it for the cooler summer evenings!
Construction Details (Why This Is a Fantastic KAL Project)
The Sabai Top is worked seamlessly top down, which means you can try it on as you go and adjust the length to suit your style.
Here’s how it unfolds:
• The neckline border, if doing the ribbed version, is worked in the round in 1x1 rib while increases are worked for the shoulders
• The top is split front and back and then the armholes are worked flat separately front and back.
• Stitches of the front and back are joined and worked in the round
• The top is finished with a narrow ribbed border or a simple stockinette rolled edge
Perfect for your first or your 150th garment this will soon become your next wardrobe staple.
🧶 What You Get
• Guided check-ins and friendly help as you knit
• Color palette ideas and yarn support. We recommend Lang Vaya, Berrocco Tille or Modern Cotton, and Freckled Frog Southern Comfort DK
• Fit and modification guidance if you’d like to adjust length or proportions
• A finished wardrobe staple
• Accountability so this doesn’t become a perpetual “work in progress”
This is steady progress with built-in support.
