In Beyond the Basics, you’ll take the next step by turning those skills into your very first actual project. Choose between the viral sensations Sophie Scarf or Weekend Hat by PetiteKnit—both perfect projects for building confidence and creating something you’ll truly wear perfect for the Low Country.
If you can knit and purl, you’re ready. We’ll cover pattern reading, shaping basics, and finishing techniques while you work at a comfortable pace. You’ll leave with a project well underway, new confidence, and proof that you’re officially a knitter.

Suggested Yarn: DK weight yarn
Yardage: Sophie scarf: 101 - 140 yards (92 - 128 m) & Weekend Hat: 199-299 yards (182-273m)Please note that yardage is estimated, and can vary between knitters and yarn used.
For project-based classes we require your yarn to be purchased at Shrimp and Knits with a 10% discount in advance of the class.
Needle size: US 4. If you are knitting the hat, you'll need needles to knit in the round. We have them to purchase if you don't have needles yet.
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle - whatever is in your notions bag!
Pattern Information: Sophie Scarf or Weekend Hat by Petite Knit will be provided with the class for you to keep!
