"Chouette” in French has a double meaning: an owl and something cool.

A cute and warm hat for your little birdie! This works up quickly on bulky yarn and large needles in the round, then closed across the top of the tube. A fun knit that is great for gifts and using up leftovers. I made these hats for my favorite littles in one weekend! There's no decreasing in the round - which saves a lot of time and frustration. You will want to make them for everyone on your holiday list.

Class Date: Saturday, December 7th from 1-3pm

Please arrive at Low Country Shrimp and Knits 10 minutes before the start of class, with materials in hand. All classes will begin promptly at the scheduled time. 

Class fee: $50 for a 2-hour in-person session. 

Project is best for: Anyone who wants to make a quick hat that knows the basics of knitting and isn't afraid to use a cable needle a few times.

Skills Used:
Knit and purl, cable knitting, knitting in the round, three-needle bind-off

Yarn: Shop sample is Berroco Vintage Doubled - Bulky Yarn is suggested.

 75 - 130 yards (69 - 119 m) Please note that yardage is estimated, and can vary between knitters and yarn used.

For project-based classes we require your yarn to be purchased at Shrimp and Knits with a 10% discount in advance of the class. 

Needles: US 10/6mm, 16”/40 cm circular needles or size needed to get gauge, cable needle, hook 

Notions: 3 stitch markers (1 in different color for start of round), tapestry needle, two ½“/ 1.25 cm buttons or beads, sewing needle and matching thread.
